Progress Post (Floor Plans & 3D View)

  1. Hello Jason.
I see you've been reworking your project. Your Professor made some insightful remarks that improve your project. I too had some questions about the layout of the restaurant. I still do. It is better than the previous version, but still it faces some challenges. The outdoor seating area in the 3D seems indoor (despite the handrail and transparencies) and the loading dock is not ok. The loading dock gates/doors should be simpler instead of those industrial doors with door shelters (that usually are associated with dock levelers and above outside floor level). Those doors are meant for trucks to dock outside and not for vehicles that enter a interior loading area. You can put other type of doors, even customize them (in appearance/finishes and size) and merge them with the rest of the building or even make them contrast and stand out but with meaning, not that way. I know that area will be used to load food and beverages (HACCP and whatnot) but trucks can have food delivered inside small containers/refrigerated cases that are delivered to the interior of the building (I don't know the exact name of those cases).
Interior wise the rest of the changes are improvements and will be perfected still, I guess. Spaces/rooms are lacking doors, etc.
Exterior wise the building seems unrefined, the two shapes do not go well together. I think you can improve form and then with materials/finishes, with color and with landscaping you can tie it all together.
    Just keep working on it.
    Best regards,
    ES

  2. Jason the restaurant/loading dock building cannot overhang that much. You will need to have some type of structure to support the portion that hangs over.
